The Post-Travel Blues

Travel

I’m baaaack.  I may be about six pounds heavier, one shade darker, and giving off the aura of post-vacation depression … but it’s me.  I’m back and ready to brag blog.

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, I supposed you’ve had a taste of what I’ve been up to in Italia… And I think this Mark Twain quote I found at a Florence sandwich shop says it all:

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Explore. Dream. Discover." - Mark Twain

I’m working on drafting up my travels, city by city, as well as loading my super duper camera pics.  That’s all coming soon.

But in the meantime, I’m back on the other side of tourism, dodging packs of travelers on my walk to work as they gawk up at the famous sights, and scowling at tour guides as they bombard me with Statue of Liberty fliers on my lunch break. (“I wish I could go on a boat ride to see the statue, but I have a 2:00 call!”)

Yes, post vacation depression is a real thing and it’s in full swing.  But with memories of la dolce vita still fresh in my mind, I attempt to get back into the daily grind while mentally planning an itinerary for my next trip overseas.

So for now, I live vicariously through Photographed Jamie, who is much happier inside the computer than Working Jamie who is staring at the computer in envy.  And I will read how to overcome the blues, and Google, Tweet, Bookmark, and Pin articles which both justify my travels (and the price tag) and also make me want to go back… like this video posted on BuzzFeed.  Vacation is worth every penny.

Can’t wait for more vacation days to accrue…
