From the cities to the shores, there is plenty to see in Vietnam. Start in Hanoi to experience the vivid culture and hustle bustle of the capital. Head to the coast for a visit to the gorgeous Halong Bay (pictured above) aboard a junk boat, stopping in caves along the way.

Example itinerary through northern Vietnam. (We combined Vietnam with stops in Thailand and Cambodia for a two-week trip.)
- Hanoi (3 nights)
Recommended Hotel: O’Gallery Majestic Hotel & Spa- Visit the famous Hoa Lo Prison Memorial (AKA the “Hanoi Hilton”)
- Stop by the iconic Train Street where the trains run through the narrow alley (now with some restrictions, so best to stop at one of the cafes for a view)
- Day trip to Halong Bay (can also book overnight on a junk boat)
